Amy Jones announces run for District 4 commission seat

AMY JONES
Tennessee Republican Party Executive Committeewoman Amy Jones has announced her candidacy for the 4th district seat of the Anderson County Commission.

The 4th district includes Rocky Top, Briceville, Rosedale and Clinton Middle School.

Jones, a lifelong Republican, says she decided to run for office in hopes of giving the county commission a facelift.

“It matters who governs, and it’s time for a change,” she said.

If elected, Jones said that her top priorities will be “transparency, integrity and leadership.”

“I feel that the county commission should be made up of citizens that do not have a conflict of interest; they should not already be employed by the county in any department. Each district deserves full representation on every vote,” she said. “Commissioners should strive to make sure citizens understand what their county government is doing and be good stewards with tax dollars. The citizens deserve to have someone advocate for them, to listen to their concerns and do all within their power to help when they can, not just not just during election season.”

A resident of Briceville since 1993, Jones serves as an insurance agent for Madison Insurance Group. She is also a licensed real estate agent and former business owner.

“I know how to work hard and I know what it takes to run a successful business,” noted Jones.

Jones has held various leadership positions on local boards, including vice chair of the Anderson County Republican Party, and currently serves as treasurer of the Anderson County Federated Republican Women.

She is an Anderson County Chamber Ambassador and a member of the Rocky Top Chamber of Commerce, Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth. She also volunteers for several community initiatives and fundraisers.

“I am a true public servant – I care about my community and have tirelessly worked behind the scenes to make my community a stronger and better place to live,” Jones said.

Jones has been married to Anderson County native William Jones for 28 years, and has one daughter and two grandchildren. She is an active member of Main Street Baptist Church in Rocky Top.
