A new vision for South Clinton

Margaret Butler of MHM Architects made the presentation and slide show of the vision in the Great Room of the Clinton Community Center.
And that’s what it is — a vision of how South Clinton could be transformed.
Butler said there were a couple of factors that played heavily in the designs presented — right-of-ways belonging the railroad and along U.S. 25W.
Other factors included development of property along the shoreline of the Clinch River and of the Ingle’s shopping center.
And Clinch Avenue — Hwy. 25 W — is also a factor. The storied roadway serves not just as a main line of transportation between Clinton and Knoxville, it is also designated as a federal roadway for use if I-75 becomes blocked for whatever reason.
“This is not a proposal,” Butler said. “It’s what the title says, ‘A vision.’ This is what we have come up with from our previous meetings about the vision of South Clinton,” she said.
