Dragons come up short against Halls

Clinton baseball suffered a couple of untimely district losses to Halls last week.

The Dragons’ bats were not on fire in a home game again Halls April 19 as the Dragons fell 16-2.

Eli Ellis accounted for the two Dragon RBI.

Halls jumped out early with seven runs in the first inning, then scored three in the each of the next three frames.

Clinton’s scores came in the third and fifth innings.

The Dragons took a 6-1 loss at Halls April 21.

Isaiah Slaven drove in Eli Ellis in the top of the sixth for Clinton’s lone score.

The Dragons had been running a hot streak until the district tilts with the Red Devils.

Alex Gaetz picked up the win in Clinton’s 9-0 blanking of Scott April 12.

Blake Lowe and Same Raley each had two RBI, Ethan Tinker, Garrett Lee, and Isaiah Slaven each tallied an RBI. The Dragons stole 11 bases in the game, with Lowe, Eli Ellis, Ethan Martell, Connor Moody, Jackson Stiltner each swiping two.

Morristown-Hamblen held off a Clinton rally to hand the Dragons a non-district road loss played midday April 16.

The Trojans led 10-3 after five innings, but the Dragons plated four runs — two in the sixth and two in the seventh — before falling short.

Trojan pitching issued 11 walks in the game. The Dragons made the best of every opportunity given them, recording only three RBI in the game. Ethan Tinker, Blake Lowe, and Garrett Lee each had an RBI.

Connor Moody swiped three bags in the game.

Clinton scored five runs in the fourth inning, propelling the Dragons to a 7-5 late-night win over Grainger High April 16.

The score was tied at 2-2 until that point, with both teams scoring two runs in the first inning.

Alex Gaetz took the non-conference win and senior Blake Lowe notched the save.

Lowe also swiped three bases in the win. Ethan Martell and Connor Moody also stole two bases.

Clinton was hot at the plate against the Grizzlies. Ethan Tinker had two RBI; Eli Ellis, Connor Moody, and Sam Raley each had one RBI.
