Historic Commission to review designs for Daugherty Building

The timeline of the Daugherty Building and planned development of the property in regards to the City of Clinton Historic Zoning Commission finally saw some progress last month.

On April 19, the Clinton Historic Commission met with Developer Kent Leach and project architect Buzz Goss to review some changes that have been made in the original design.

The commission reviewed the new plans, but did not vote, choosing to take more time to review the updated plans.

“We didn’t get these until a short time ago,” Historic Zoning Commission Chair Missy Snead said.

The “rough time line” follows:

A request was filled out in the spring (May) of 2021 for development of the building.

There have been delays with the developer and architect hearing back from the State Historic Commission.

There was a written request for more information from the Clinton Historic Commission — not returned because the developer and architect said they hadn’t heard back from the state and they needed that input to answer the questions;

There have been meetings scheduled and canceled;

And, as noted, there are a number a government agencies involved from the State Historic Office to the City of Clinton and, “Things just didn’t come together,” architect for the project, Buzz Goss, said.
