Lady Mavs take the podium at Spring Fling

The Anderson County girls track and field team did well at the 2022 TSSAA State Track and Field Championships at Middle Tennessee State University’s Dean Hayes Stadium last week.

The Lady Mavs brought home two third-place and two fifth-place finishes.

Kylee Alvis placed fifth in shot put with a 35-foot, 7-inch effort. She reached the distance on her third and final attempt. Her first three attempts were 32 feet, 9.75 inches; 34 feet, 7.5 inches; and 32 feet, 9.5 inches.

Alvis placed third in discus with a throw of 102 feet. Her other three throws measured 101 feet, 10 inches; 85 feet, 9 inches; and 100 feet, 9 inches.

Kaitlyn Fisher took third place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:35.148. Emma Kate Hamby of Central Magnet High School won the event with a time of 11:00.149.

The Anderson County High School girls 4x800-meter relay team took fifth place with a time of 10:37.030.

Kaitlyn Fisher ran the first leg with a time of 2:32.423.

Marley Caldwell ran 2:43.512 in the second leg. Megan Haire completed her leg with a 2:43.395 split. Macy Caldwell finished with a strong 2:38.7 for the final leg.
