You can run, but ...
No ... no you can’t
It took the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office less that 30 minutes (27 minutes, actually) to catch two female inmates who “walked off a work crew,” and “rode off in a vehicle,” Sunday afternoon, June 19.
Rose Phillips, 47, Clinton, and Kristie Craig, 49, Rocky Top, didn’t get far.
After leaving in the vehicle at 5:53 p.m., when the Sheriff’s Office received notice the two had fled, the pair were back in custody at 6:20 p.m.
“At approximately 5:53 p.m., our office received notice that two inmates escaped from the Detention Facility and drove off in a vehicle. At 6:20 p.m., our deputies had the two inmates back in custody and enroute back to the jail,” a release from the Sheriff’s Office said Sunday evening.
“The quick apprehension of the inmates was critical and a testament to the incredible job our patrol deputies do,” Sheriff Russell Barker said.
An investigation is underway.
No details about whether anyone else was involved were released, or where the inmates were found by sheriff’s deputies.
Phillips was being held at the Anderson County Detention Facility for failure to appear, a child support attachment, and on charges of the manufacture/delivery/sale/possession of methamphetamine.
Craig was being held for violation of probation, failure to appear, criminal capias, and simple possession.
Phillips and Craig may face additional charges from Sunday’s “walk away,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
