Lake City Middle School student and Courier News correspondent EmmaGrace Bridges received a proclamation from Lt. Gov. Randy McNally for all her work and dedication to her community. She recently was able to meet McNally and state Rep. John Ragan at the Briceville Fire Stationl groundbreaking ceremony. When she isn’t going to school, studying, writing, having family time, paricipating in 4-H activities, donating her extra fresh eggs to local blessing boxes, or doing her chores, she donates any spare time to volunteering to different charities and always remembering to pay respect to our local veterans. Her motto is: “It doesn’t take much to give back and make someone smile.” Giving back is her way of paying her tithes. “If we come together, we can make a bright future for everyone,” she said. “To my fellow youth, local veterans could really use help in the summer with lawn maintenance, or you could deliver your leftovers to the local homeless shelter. It’s little things. Community involvement and community service shouldn’t be or feel like punishment. It’s a learning, growing, life-skills experience.”
