Not a typical summer storm

A line of severe thunderstorms passed through Clinton and Anderson County early on Thursday, July 21, flooding streets, toppling trees, and bringing down power lines over a wide area. Flooding on North Main Street at the Norfolk Southern railroad underpass blocked it all day Thursday and Friday morning until city crews could clean it up. Here, a fire truck is used to hose down the mud left behind after the water receded Friday morning. No injuries were reported from the storm and subsequent mostly minor flooding, city and county officials said. As much as six inches of rain fell within a period of about two hours overnight Wednesday-Thursday. The storm also put on an impressive light show with continuous lightning and thunder over a wide area.
