Norris celebrates 4th-annual Summer Picnic on the Commons
Dozens of Norris residents turned out last Saturday night for the fourth-annual Summer Picnic on the Commons in front of Norris Middle School.
Sponsored by the Norris Recreation Commission, the event from 5:30-8 p.m. included live music, lawn games, a bounce house provided by Bethel Baptist Church, water fun hosted for the kids by the Norris Fire Department, and other activities.
Most visitors brought their own lawn chairs, but some seating was available at the picnic tables under the Lions Club Pavilion.
City Councilwoman Loretta Painter, who also is a member of the recreation commission, said no food was served at the site, but attendees either brought their food from home or purchased special food to go from area restaurants and stores, including Vega Café & Smokehaus, Twisted Sisters Sweets & Treats, and Norris Market.
Live music was presented by The Tenos and Liz & Tim, performing on the stage next to the pavilion.
