The 2022 regular season is now in the rearview mirror for the Anderson County High School volleyball team.

The Lady Mavericks split their final two matches of the campaign Thursday night at home.

ACHS opened the evening with a three-set loss to Farragut. The Lady Mavericks cruised in the first set before falling to the Lady Admirals 14-25, 25-17, 25-19.

Anna Kay Smith, ACHS’s lone senior who was honored before Thursday night’s matches, had six kills, 10 digs and five service aces against the Lady Admirals. Shelby Kelly came up with five kills while Alyssa Meier added five digs and four kills. Jailynn Bullock finished the match with six digs and 17 assists.

In the regular-season finale Thursday night, Anderson County swept Oliver Springs 25-8, 25-15.

Kelly led Anderson County’s hitting attack as she recorded 10 kills. Defensively, she posted five digs. Bullock dished out 16 assists. Meier had six digs and Eberle Mayes served up five aces.

Bullock had 16 assists against the Lady Bobcats.

ACHS also defeated West High and lost to Bearden last week. The Lady Mavericks hosted the District 4-AA Tournament, which opened Monday and concluded Tuesday.

ACHS was the No. 2 seed and played Fulton in the semifinals Tuesday but results were unavailable at press time.

Lady Mavs’ head coach Jayme Smith was hoping that her team would have success in the tournament.

“We’ve gotten off to good starts this year and we tend to lose late,” Smith said. “We’ve played a tough schedule and I’m hoping and I think that will help us in the postseason.”
