Lady ’Cats pick up two wins on the pitch
Oak Ridge High School’s girls soccer team won twice last week.
The Lady Wildcats closed out the week with a 2-0 victory over Anderson County Thursday night.
The victory came two days after Oak Ridge celebrated senior night with a 4-1 win over Knoxville Halls.
Against the Lady Mavericks (7-7), Rose Pellitier and Hayven Laurendine scored for the Lady Wildcats (9-5).
“It’s tough scoring on a team like Anderson County with their style of play,” Oak Ridge coach Donnie Green said.
Oak Ridge returned to pitch action on Tuesday, Sept. 26, as it defeated the Lady Devils. The victory helped the Lady Wildcats bounce back from a recent 8-1 District 3-AAA loss to Knoxville Central.
“We outshot both teams,” Green said. “Against Halls on senior night, we spent 60 of the 80 minutes of the game in our attacking third.”
Aniya Fisher had a hat trick for the Lady Wildcats, who close out their regular-season schedule by hosting Rhea County Thursday at 7 p.m.
Fisher scored her first goal on a free kick in the 22nd minute. She also scored in the 51st minute and had another goal in the waning minutes of the match.
Laurendine, who scored in the 54th minute and had an assist on Fisher’s second marker.
