Anchor down — Maddox announces his pick

Clinton’s big man, Barrett Maddox, announced Friday that Vanderbilt University is where he will be continuing his academic and athletic careers.

Maddox had his choice of 31 programs, including Kansas, UCLA, Appalachian State, Middle Tennessee, and ETSU to name a few. Maddox, a two-year starter at Clinton, transferred from Central High School his junior year.

When asked about his decision to choose Vanderbilt, Maddox answered, “It felt like home from my first visit.” “When I received my offer during my visit, it felt surreal.” said Maddox adding, “After my visit during the Florida weekend, I knew this was where I wanted to be.

“It means everything to me . It still feels surreal to say I’m committed to play at Vanderbilt an playing SEC ball in my home state!!” Barrett said when asked about what it means to being committed to your dream SEC school.

He said being the first Dragon to go Division One FBS in 18 years and the first Division One athlete in 12 means everything to him.

“Just knowing I came to Clinton with a plan and I have accomplished it and still are working and it’s a blessing!!” Exclaimed Barrett Maddox.



“My biggest inspiration and role models is my momma. She gave up so much stuff for me to be in this position that’s I am today and I’m just so blessed to have such amazing momma she will always be my big role model she a hard working and loving mother!!” Barrett said adding how important feeling like a family meant for him to make his commitment.



When asked about what advice he would give rising seniors and underclass men about being recruited, Barrett said, “Stay positive don’t get down if everything don’t go your way just trust god!!”



Maddox added, “Be patient and be grateful for every opportunity you earn and just believe in your self and be confident and if you have a dream go get and don’t stop going after it till you do it!! And always TRUST THE PROCESS!!”



Barrett is looking forward to enrolling in the Summer and dawning the Black and Gold in Nashville.
