Region 3-5A football awards announced
Wildcats land 14 players, Dragons get 10 on squad
The football season might be over for Region 3-5A, but the awards keep racking up for the Dragons and the Wildcats.
The region runner-up Oak Ridge Wildcats walked away with 14 All Region players, including Jai Hundley with Co-Running Back of the Year, VaShawn Nalls with Co-Edge Player of the Year, Brian Kelley with Linebacker of the Year, Brennan Pearson as Punter of the Year and Brandon Heyward as Specialist of the Year.
Coach Robert Ayers won the Defensive Assistant of the Year.
The rest of the All-Region players include: Elijah Rogers, De’Jauvis Dozier, Pryce Davis, Truitt Thuecks, Tyler Pickens, Elijah Bradley, Izzy Mitchell, Almani Rembert and Greyson Hope.
Blake Steed was named as Academic All-Region, and Connor Cummings, Will Pressley, Tim Walters, Dallas Frendt, Jermaine Blair and Austin Hill were named as All Region honorable mentions.
The Dragons, who finished last in the region, raked in 10 All-Region picks, including: Joshuah Keith as Quarterback of the Year, Barrett Maddox as Co-Lineman of the Year, D’Mon Marable as Co-Edge Player of the Year, and Jeremiah Lee as Returner of the Year.
Lucas Kendall, Caleb Cook, Wesley Phillips, Le Stat Williams, Jawan Goins and Eric Page were also named to the All-Region list.
William Taylor was named Academic-All Region.
Braylon Taylor, Chase Glandon, Chauncey Felts, Dylan Spurlock and Rhett Seivers were named to the All-Region honorable mention list.
