The struggles continued for the young Oak Ridge High School girls basketball team early last week.

The Lady Wildcats (3-7) came up on the short end of a 49-42 decision against Sevier County on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Wildcat Arena.

Ze’Yana Stewart, a sophomore starter, and Jenna Johnson, another sophomore for Oak Ridge, scored 15 points each in the team’s final game before Christmas.

Stewart went 11-for-14 from the free-throw line. As a team, however, the Lady Wildcats struggled from the stripe, converting just 15 of their 25 attempts in the contest.

The Lady Wildcats have played the Bearettes twice this season, losing both games. Oak Ridge has District 3-4A wins over Knoxville Central and Powell this season. The Lady Wildcats’ lone non-district victory was a win over South-Doyle in November.
