Wildcats in the midst of five-game win-streak

The winning streak reached five games for the Oak Ridge High School boys basketball team.

The Wildcats avenged their lone District 3-4A loss when they topped West High 55-38 Friday night at Wildcat Arena.

The Rebels, who defeated Oak Ridge (18-3, 7-0 in the district) 59-57 in Knoxville on Jan. 10, were the last team to beat the Wildcats.

ORHS boasted a balanced scoring attack against West Friday night as Grayson Strader, Brennen Ray’Quan Watson and Kaden Brightharp each scored 11 points. Brennen Scott chipped in with seven.

The Wildcats opened the week with a league win on the road against Powell at the Jeff Hunter Gymnasium. Oak Ridge completed the regular-season sweep of the Panthers with a 76-48 victory on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

Watson led the way with 22 points. Strader added 12. Brightharp had nine and Cooper Williams finished with eight for the Wildcats, who defeated Powell at Wildcat Arena.

Oak Ridge hosted Karns Tuesday but results were not available at press time.

The Wildcats will travel to Campbell County Thursday.
