After getting off to a 3-8 start this season, the Oak Ridge High School girls basketball team has reeled off 13 consecutive victories.

The Lady Wildcats’ latest win was the biggest as it helped them culminate a perfect District 3-4A campaign and a regular-season district title.

Oak Ridge (16-8 overall, 10-0 in the district) closed out the league portion of its regular-season schedule Thursday night with a 67-34 victory over Campbell County in Jacksboro.

Dimitria Strickland scored a game-high 29 points for the Lady Wildcats and Ze’Yana Stewart added 17. Ayana Porter had eight points against the Lady Cougars and Kannon Green finished with seven.

The Lady Wildcats opened the week with a 61-53 win over Karns at Wildcat Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The victory over the Lady Beavers actually clinched the district title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming district tournament.

Strickland scored 22 points and was one of three Lady Wildcats to post double figures in the scoring column. Porter added 15 and Stewart finished with 12 for ORHS, which darted out to a 16-6 lead late in the first quarter.

The Lady Wildcats, who have already qualified for the Region 2-4A tournament, played Alcoa Monday but results were not available at press time.

They travel to Clinton Thursday and play at Fulton Saturday.
