Elijah Rogers has known that Campbell University would be his college destination for quite some time.

He officially became a Camel last week when he signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the ORHS Amphitheater in a ceremony attended by friends, family, teammates and Oak Ridge faculty and staff.

Rogers, a wide receiver and defensive back for the Wildcats, had his senior season interrupted by a broken collarbone.

He committed to Campbell early in his recruiting process and will enter the school as a business major.

He said the coaching staff at Campbell made an impact on his decision to attend the school.

“The coaching staff is what really appealed to me at Campbell,” Rogers said. “I just really liked the coaches and I really liked the campus.”

He also said that the small class size was a selling point.

“I really like the small class size. The classes are small, smaller than some here,” Rogers said. “That will give me an opportunity for more help and more one-on-one interaction.”

Rogers recorded 504 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the Wildcats in 2022.

He also had five career interceptions for the Wildcats, who went 7-6 and reached the Class 5A quarterfinals last season.
