ACHS’s Prewitt is a region champion

For the fourth time in his high school wrestling career, Anderson County High School’s Lucas Prewitt is a region champion.

Prewitt claimed his latest championship Saturday as he won the 132-pound division bracket at the Region 2-AA Tournament at William Blount High School in Maryville.

Prewitt was the lone region champion for ACHS, but he was one of six Maverick grapplers to reach the finals in their weight classes, and one of 11 athletes to qualify for Saturday’s Section 1-AA championships, which will be held at Bearden High School in Knoxville.

Anderson County‘s five other regional finalists include Gabe Dietlin (113 pounds), Josh Bingham (160), Ayden Derry (195), Eli Bratton (220) and Jayden Bullock (285).

Other sectional qualifiers for the Mavericks include Tripp Haire, who took fifth in the 106-pound weight class and made Saturday’s sectional field by avenging an earlier loss in his final match of the day. He qualified despite finishing fifth because Region 1 sent just three qualifiers. Max Wolfley took third in the 138-pound weight class. Kyle Buckner also posted a third-place finish at 170. Tucker Markland (126) and Evan Prewitt (145) each qualified for sectionals in fourth place.
