Anderson County High School’s girls basketball team closed out the District 4-AAA Tournament with a win Monday night.

The Lady Mavericks defeated Scott 53-37 in the third-place game of the tournament.

Anderson County will now prepare for the Region 2-AAA Tournament, which opens Friday night.

As the No. 3 seed from District 4, the Lady Mavericks will travel to Kodak to play Northview Academy Friday. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

The Lady Cougars and Lady Mavericks have played twice this season, with Northview (20-10) winning both meetings against ACHS (10-20).

Northview claimed a 49-41 victory in Clinton in December.

In the January rematch in Sevier County, the Lady Cougars claimed a 59-23 victory.

But the Lady Mavericks enter Friday’s game coming off one of their best games of the season as Emily Mustard scored 21 points and Lydia Meldrum finished with 15. Point guard Jaylynn Bullock dished out 10 assists for Anderson County, which was hot from beyond the three-point arc early, knocking down six long-range jumpers in the first quarter.

“We played pretty well tonight and it’s always good to get a win,” Anderson County Coach itch Cupples said.

“We made six threes in the first quarter.

“Jaylynn Bullock ran the team great tonight.”
