Weather postpones Lady Wildcats’ softball season

Oak Ridge High School’s softball team has high hope for the 2023 season, which was scheduled to get underway last week.

The expectations are still high. The 2023 campaign, however, didn’t begin as planned.

The Lady Wildcats were slated to open the season Friday by hosting the Oak Ridge Invitational Tournament.

But inclement weather left the field in poor condition and caused the cancellation of the event.

The Lady Wildcats will now open the season this week.

Oak Ridge opened the season Tuesday with a District 4-4A contest at Karns. Results were unavailable at press time.

Oak Ridge will travel to Claiborne today (Wednesday, March 22). First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.

The Lady Wildcats will open the home portion of their 2023 schedule Thursday as they host Campbell County.

Game time is set for 6 p.m.

Oak Ridge plays at Lenoir City Friday and will travel to Anderson County on Monday.
