Gibbs snaps Lady Dragons’ win streak
Clinton High School has won four of its last five softball games.
But the Lady Dragons had their four-game winning streak broken Monday night at home.
CHS (13-6 overall, 3-1 in District 4-AAA) lost to Gibbs, 13-1.
The Lady Eagles had a 3-1 lead in the third inning before scoring 10 unanswered runs, including six in the top of the seventh.
Only four of Gibbs High’s runs were earned as Clinton committed four errors in the contest.
Tomi Taylor was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lady Dragons. Elizabeth Graham was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored.
On Friday, Clinton notched a key non-district road win, defeating Carter 3-2 in Strawberry Plains as Marissa Eccles went 1-for-2 and scored twice and Bree McKamey was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
In the circle, McKamey threw a complete game. She surrendered two runs (one earned), four hits and two walks while striking out six Lady Hornets. On Tuesday, April 11, the Lady Dragons defeated Scott 18-3. The Lady Highlanderstook a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning before CHS scored 10 in the bottom of the frame.
McKamey went 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs. Leadoff hitter and second baseman Addi Gamble went 1-for-3 with a double, three runs, and an RBI.
