SoccerCats will face West Thursday
The 2023 high school boys soccer season has kicked into high gear and Oak Ridge will face one of its stiffest challenges of the campaign later this week.
The Wildcats (7-1-2 overall, 3-0 in District 3-AAA) will host West High Thursday night in a match that will likely determine the league’s regular-season championship.
Oak Ridge won its match against Powell Thursday night, notching a 6-1 victory.
Sebastian Salas-Vaca scored four goals in the game against the Panthers. He also tallied the lone marker in Oak Ridge’s 3-1 loss to Webb School of Knoxville on Tuesday, April 11.
The Wildcats played Heritage Tuesday night in Maryville, but results were not available at press time.
The Rebels, meanwhile, shut out Knoxville Central 8-0 Thursday night in Fountain City.
West (9-1-1, 2-0) is the defending regular-season and tournament champion.
The Rebels’ only loss came to Bearden.
Hardin Valley played the Rebels to a 0-0 draw earlier this season.
Hardin Valley also played Oak Ridge to a tie.
It will be the fourth-consecutive district road match for the Rebels, who played at Karns Tuesday night.
