Knox West gets the best of SoccerCats in overtime
It was a week of mixed results on the pitch for the Oak Ridge High School boys soccer team.
The Wildcats (8-2-2 overall, 3-1 in District 3-AAA), dropped a league home match to West High Thursday night in overtime.
West (11-1-1, 4-0) scored the winning goal in the 99th minute as foreign exchange student Tobias Hageltorn found the back of the net off an assist from Jackson Novinger.
Novinger scored the Rebels’ first goal off an assist from Hageltorn.
The Wildcats took an early lead when Sergio Macias-Ayala scored.
Oak Ridge opened the week with a 9-0 win over Heritage on Tuesday, April 18.
Denny Flores scored two goals against the Mountaineers in the non-league match.
The Wildcats closed out district play against Knoxville Central in Fountain City Tuesday night.
Results were not available at press time.
Oak Ridge travels to Maryville Thursday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
