Hawks pull out win in fourth inning

Clinton Hawks baseball snagged a late lead and defeated Norris Middle 5-1 on Tuesday, April 19.

The game was tied at one with the Hawks batting in the bottom of the fourth when eighth-grader Ben Tackett doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Norris got things started in the first inning when an error gave the Senators their single run in the game.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Hawks tied things up when eighth-grader Brennan Tipton singled on a 3-1 count, scoring another run. The runs came after a Norris error scored two.

Eighth-grader Aden Golden pitched the Hawks to victory. Aden allowed only three hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.

DJ Pierce took the loss for the Senators. He surrendered five runs on three hits over three-and-a-third innings, striking out nine.

Eighth-grader J.P. Robbins went 2-for-3 at the plate, leading the Hawks in hits.
