Clinton’s Haney, Boundy to play for regional titles in tennis

Two Clinton High School tennis players have reached the Region 2-AA Championships.

One Dragon and one Lady Dragon will compete at the individual championship tournament on Monday, May 15, at Tyson Park in Knoxville.

Clinton’s boys will be represented by senior Caleb Haney. He will play Gavin Graham from West High.

Haney has occupied the No. 1 Singles spot on the Dragons’ ladder in 2023.

The Lady Dragons will be represented by junior Sara Boundy.

She will take on defending Class AA state champion Riley Cassity from Farragut. Cassity won the state title as a freshman.

“They’ve both played No. 1 for us this season,” Clinton interim Coach Lorri Johnson said. “They’re both great players and great kids.

“They’re strong academically.”

Johnson is coaching the Dragons and Lady Dragons while Coach Hannah Cunningham is on maternity leave.
