SoccerCats start tourney play tonight
The Oak Ridge High School boys soccer team will begin its quest for a District 3-AAA Tournament championship today (May 10) at home as it entertains Knoxville Central.
Kickoff between the second-seeded Wildcats (11-2-2) and the No. 3 Bobcats (7-4-3) is slated for 7 p.m.
Oak Ridge had a first-round bye as it finished second behind defending district tournament champion and 2022 Class AAA state qualifier West High.
Central eliminated sixth-seeded Campbell County with a 10-1 victory Friday night at Dan Y. Boring Stadium in Fountain City.
With a win at home tonight, the Wildcats would advance to the district championship match Friday and qualify for next week’s Region 2-AAA Tournament.
Oak Ridge closed out the 2023 regular season with a 1-0 victory over Jefferson County on Tuesday, May 2, as Eli Lynch scored the lone goal of the match.
