Nine Wildcats earn postseason honors

Oak Ridge High School won the 2023 regular-season District 3-4A baseball title as it won nine of its 10 league games and finished three games ahead of second-place Powell.

Thus, the Wildcats were highly represented when the district’s coaches handed out their postseason awards.

ORHS Coach Travis Free was named Coach of the Year. Mikee Teasley claimed Rookie of the Year honors. Tyler Pickens was named Player of the Year and Caden Black was Defensive Player of the Year.

Eddie Tan, Jacob Franklin and Jason Slay were named to the all-district team while Alex Franklin and Richie Ferreira were honorable mentions.

John Ulreich and Jacob Franklin earned spots on the district’s all-academic team.
