Freshman runner Ava Moody finished second in the 3,200-meter run, which qualified her for the state championship meet next Tuesday at Hayes Stadium in Murfreesboro.

Joseph Hall finished ninth in the long jump with a personal best 20 feet, 2.25 inches. The Mavericks had 16 athletes compete in the 2023 TSSAA East Section Championship held at Tom Black Track on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
