Health Expo draws visitors to Rocky Top during Monday event
Among the 30 or more vendors present for the event was the Anderson County Health Department, which was providing free flu and COVID-19 vaccinations.
The participating vendors, including health-care providers, community health resource groups, and even local pharmacies, were on hand to provide information about their services and answer any healthcare-related questions visitors might have.
Among groups participating was Choices Resource Center of Oak Ridge, a ministry that describes itself as “a safe place for women and men facing the challenges of unwanted pregnancies.”
Choices Executive Director Malissa Mocsari, a registered nurse who specializes in labor and delivery, said the group’s services are available free for people throughout the region, including Anderson, Knox, Loudon, Morgan, and Campbell counties.
Mocsari said she was pleased to be able to participate in Monday’s event, and was happy to see such a large turnout of people.
Other groups and agencies on hand for the Health Expo included the TN Black Lung Program, which serves former coal miners; Community Health of East Tennessee’s Family Services Center; and Cherokee Health Systems, which provides free primary health care – including dental and vision – across Tennessee, including Anderson, Clairborne, Knox, Union, Loudon, and Sevier counties.
