Bulls were very busy last week

A busy week on the baseball diamond concluded for the Coal Creek Bulls Sunday.

The Bulls dropped a 9-1 decision to the Diamond Hawks 15U team.

In that game, Reece Wilkerson had two hits and scored a run while A.J. Colorusso singled and drove in the Bulls’ only run of the contest.

Coal Creek (8-8) committed five errors in the game and scored its run in the bottom of the third inning and pulled to within 2-1.

The Diamond Hawks then scored seven unearned runs in the fourth and fifth frames.

On Saturday, Coal Creek split a pair of contests. The Bulls defeated the Diamond Hawks 15U, 9-0, as pitcher Hayden Ault hurled a no-hitter.

He threw six innings and surrendered just one walk while striking out six batters.

Ault also did some damage with his bat as he went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Jullian Mell went 1-for-3, with a double and a run scored. He also drove in four runs.

Easton Beaty also tripled and scored a run for Coal Creek, which had six hits and took advantage of eight Diamond Hawks’ errors.

The Bulls lost to the Tennessee Prospects 9-0 in its other tilt Saturday as Wilkerson had the Bulls’ only hit of the game.

On Thursday, Coal Creek traveled to North Knoxville and split a doubleheader against the Knoxville Falcons at Christenberry Elementary School.

In Thursday night’s opener, the Bulls prevailed, 17-3, at Larry Cox field as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning.

Coal Creek added eight runs in the third and six more in the fourth inning.

The Bulls pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of four Knoxville errors.

Colorusso went 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Morgan Clark came up with three hits, two runs scored and three RBIs.

Easton Beaty went 1-for-3 with a triple and two runs. He also knocked in a pair.

Jeremiah Owens had two hits, including a double. He scored twice and drove in a run.

Daniel Unthank had a single and scored twice.

Coal Creek lost the nightcap to the Falcons, 8-6.

The Bulls opened the week with a pair of losses to the Maryville Commanders on the road.

Coal Creek dropped the opener 11-3, before falling in the nightcap, 5-2.
