We are wasting precious time

EDITOR:

As chair of the Anderson County Democratic Party, I feel it is time to put an end to all the hatred and ugliness coming from groups outside of Anderson County. We are wasting precious time by allowing outsiders to speak to our County Commission and Library Board.

We have issues much more pressing to be working on. In Anderson County on average, over all the three school boards, 48 percent of our children fail the third-grade reading test. Fifty-nine percent of our children are economically disadvantaged. Across the country, Tennessee ranks LAST in foster care, with Anderson County ranking 89th out of 95 counties. We must protect the LGBTQ community that is being attacked.

I am asking that all Anderson County citizens who truly care about their children join us on July 13 at the Library Board in Rocky Top to put a stop to this attempt, and get back to work on the issues that truly affect our children, their education, health, and well-being.
