Sharks close out season

The Clinton Sharks closed out their summer season last weekend at the GKAISA City Championships at the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatics Center.

Sharks Coach Jonathan Leninsky couldn’t have been happier with the final chapter for his club’s summer season.

“We told the kids to swim their best and give it their all because this was going to be their last meet of the season,” Leninsky said. “We qualified twice as many swimmers as we did last year and we had a lot of Top 8 results and our youngest swimmer, a 7-year old had his best time of the year in the 8-and-under 25-yard backstroke.”

That was Jack Siegenthaler, who posted a fourth-place finish in the 25-yard backstroke as he touched the wall in 21.87 seconds.

Siegenthaler also finished 15th in the 50-yard freestyle as he completed the race in 46.56 seconds.

Ben Helus had a pair of notable finishes as he took 12th place in the 13-and-14-year-old 50-yard breaststroke as he finished in 34.48 seconds. He also came in 15th in the 50-yard backstroke in his age division (32.48).

Carl Helus finished 15th in both the 50-yard backstroke and the 50-yard butterfly. He swims in the 15-and-over division, and posted a time of 28.00 in the backstroke and had a mark of 25.85 in the butterfly.

On the girls’ side, Laini Snodderly had a 16.27 swim in the 9-and-10-year-old 25-yard backstroke.

She posted a time of 17.63 seconds in the butterfly.

Natalie Steger earned an 11th-place finish in the 15-and-over 200-yard individual medley.
