Lady SoccerCats will take part in jamboree this weekend

The 2023 high school girls soccer season kicks off Saturday with the 24th annual KIL Girls Soccer Jamboree.

Three area teams will be in action at the event, which provides insurance for local high school players.

Matches will be held at Bill Wilson Field at West High School in Knoxville and at the adjacent University of Tennessee Athletic Complex.

Matches will be 25 minutes in length and games begin at 8 a.m. Each team at the event will play two games.

Oak Ridge Coach Donnie Green will soon begin his final season with the Lady Wildcats before starting the program at Roane State Community College in 2024.

He will have both its varsity and junior varsity teams participating in the jamboree.

The Oak Ridge JV side will take on South-Doyle at 8 a.m. at Bill Wilson Field.

ORHS’s JV team will also tangle with Knoxville Catholic at 8:30 a.m.

The Lady Wildcats varsity squad will play Christian Academy of Knoxville at West High with kickoff slated for 9:30 a.m.

Oak Ridge will also take on Gibbs of Knoxville at 10 a.m.

Anderson County’s varsity side will play Lakeway Christian School at 1 p.m. at Bill Wilson Field.

The Lady Mavericks will also take on Morristown West at 1:30.

Admission to the event is $5, with children under 6 being admitted free.
