Five Star Preps Jamboree is final tune-up before football season starts
A pair of area high school football teams will have their respective final tune-ups for the 2023 season at the second annual Five Star Preps Jamboree presented by Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics.
The event will be held at Carson-Newman University.
Action begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, and for the second consecutive year, Clinton and Oak Ridge will compete.
The Dragons’ junior varsity squad will also be in action as it will close the night’s festivities with a game against Knoxville Catholic’s JV team.
The Wildcats’ JV team will also play Thursday night as it tangles with Greeneville’s JV squad.
The schedule of one-quarter games includes: Morristown East vs. Christian Academy of Knoxville; Morristown East JV vs. CAK JV; Grace Christian Academy vs. Morristown East and Grace Christian’s JV vs. Knoxville Catholic’s JV.
The first four quarters of action will be followed by a skills competition.
Action resumes with the Wildcats taking on Greeneville.
Other games will include: Oak Ridge JV vs. Greeneville JV; Clinton vs. Knoxville Catholic; and Clinton JV vs. Knoxville Catholic JV.
The Dragons are looking for big things this season as they went 5-5 and missed the playoffs last season.
Clinton opens its 2023 regular season on Friday, Aug. 18, at home against Cleveland.
The Wildcats, meanwhile, have a new head coach in Derek Rang.
ORHS went 7-6 and reached the Class 5A state quarterfinals last season.
