It’s hip to be square (dancing)
Members of Claxton Country Squares enjoy an evening of dancing at the club’s meeting place, Claxton Community Center, 1071 Edgemoor Road, next to the Claxton Community Park. The club has regular dances on the first and fourth Saturday nights practically every month through the year. Claxton Country Squares is offering free lessons on Monday, Sept. 11, and Monday, Sept. 18, for people in the community who want to learn to square dance. “Classes are very enjoyable and offer an easy learning process with step-by-step instructions,” said Lloyd Allison, one of the club’s founders. “Claxton Country Squares has members from all walks of life who feel no one could find a better group of friends.” The group says it is excited to get acquainted with newcomers and help them learn the enjoyable activity of square dancing. Dances are from 7-9:30 p.m. For more information, visit the club website at Claxtoncountrysquares.com.
