The game of football was put in perspective Friday, Sept. 15, when the Andrson County High School football Mavericks hosted Seymour High School in a Region 4-AAAA cotest.

Former Mav Elijah Alley, who is stricken with Amyotrophic Latreal Sclerosis —Lou Gehrig’s Disease — was honored by the team. His son, sophomore lineman Slade Alley, was able to show off not only his playing skills, but a “Beat ALS” message on a cast on his right wrist. Slade wears his father’s number from when he played for the Mavs, 58, as well.

Elijah’s father, Joe Alley (with “camo” hat), was also on hand for the night of honor for Elijah Alley.
