‘Full Moon Pickin’ Party’ set for Friday evening at Museum of Appalachia
Yee-Haw Brewing Company is sponsoring the event, described as a “family-friendly bluegrass concert under a full moon, live from the Museum of Appalachia outdoor stage.”
In addition to live music, the event will feature food trucks, demonstrations from Appalachian artisans, and more, according to the museum.
Matt Foster will perform first, followed by the Authentic Unlimited Band, which museum officials said is “one of the hottest bands in Bluegrass right now.”
According to the museum, Foster is a “Knoxville-based banjo and guitar songster” who “brings audiences Appalachian-tinged renditions of various songs and ballads in between country blues-fused originals. Foster plays a fretless mountain banjo, harmonica, and the sole of his boot. It’s live, simple, and earnest.”
Authentic Unlimited, an International Bluegrass Music Association award-winning group, “features the polished harmonies and dynamic virtuosity associated with the best of new bluegrass,” the museum says.
“If you’re a fan of the crisp and clean sounds of Doyle Lawson-inspired bluegrass, you’re sure to enjoy this stellar new group.”
Tickets are $10 for adults (18-up), and $5 for ages 5-17. Children under 5 are admitted free with paying adult guest. Museum members can attend the concert free.

The stage is at the rear of the main administration building at the museum, which sits on Andersonville Highway about two miles east of Interstate 75. It is covered, so the concert would not be affected by rain. But museum officials said they are expecting good weather for the concert.
The Museum of Appalachia is a living history museum portraying pioneer life in Southern Appalachia, and is a Smithsonian Affiliate.
