Lady Lakers place sixth on the grand stage of the state tournament
For the first time, the TMSAA hosted a state volleyball tournament and a local team was on the grand stage last week in Franklin.

In Thursday’s preliminary pool play round, the Lady Lakers lost three matches, falling to Unicoi County (25-12, 25-12), Charlotte (25-13, 25-12) and Northview (17-25, 25-23, 15-7).
In elimination play, Lake City, a No. 4 seed, won its first match, downing Three Oaks in three sets, 12-25, 25-23, 17-15. The Lady Lakers were eliminated by Unity School in straight sets, 25-15, 25-19.
