Clinton’s Summer Wilson has a big day at ‘All Comers Meet’
But the senior cross country athlete had her best showing of the season at the All Comers Meet in Knoxville early last week.
Wilson completed the 5,000-meter course at Victor Ashe Park in 25 minutes, 37.97 seconds on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Her mark was posted just eight days before the region championships, which were held Wednesday at Victor Ashe Park (results were not available at press time). She finished 78th in last week’s race.
“She’s been having health problems all year, but she had a [personal record] and really ran great,” Clinton Coach Tim Kumes said of Wilson.
In the boys race, the Dragons continued to see their times fall just before the region championships.
Cooper Bostrom was Clinton’s top finisher last week. He came in 108th and had a time of 20:33.21.
Caleb Holt finished 128th (21:02.31). Lucas Gates crossed the finish line in 185th place (23:21.71).
Max Bostrom finished 193rd (23:36.96), and Ryley Brewer was 196th as he completed the race in 23:40.71.
Kumes said that he was pleased with the effort last week.
“This was pretty much a preview for the region, and our guys continued to improve on their [personal records],” Kumes said.
Anderson County competes: In its final competition before this week’s region championships, the Anderson County High School boys cross country team was in action at the All Comers Meet at Victor Ashe Park in Northwest Knoxville on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
The Mavericks had six entrants in the race.
Franklin Downs was their top finisher, coming in 83rd and completing the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 51.89 seconds.
Michael Mattson finished 103rd as he posted a time of 20:27.48. Zander Vo placed 177th (23:07.95). Luis Aguilar was 181st (23:12.17). Caleb Dill finished 195th with a time of 23:40.22 and Tanner Warman was 221st (26:06.71).
The region championships were held Wednesday at Victor Ashe Park, but results were not available at press
time.
