Lady Wildcats soccer players pick up All-District honors
Oak Ridge High School’s girls soccer team qualified for the Region 2-AAA tournament for the first time since 2020.
The Lady Wildcats had several players honored with postseason awards by the District 3-AAA coaches.
Oak Ridge picked up a pair of individual superlative honors as Hayven Laurendine was named Midfielder of the Year and freshman Marleigh Frazier was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Year.
ORHS, which went 14-3-2 in 2023, also
had seven players
garner all-district honors.
Oak Ridge’s All-District 3-AAA standouts included: Aniya Fisher; Lilah Kim; Abbey Pressley; Noel Nortedt; Elena Vogt; Edie Weston; and Victoria Moua.
The Lady Wildcats were the District 3-AAA tournament runners-up after sharing the league’s regular-season title with Knox Central and Powell. The Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Bobcats during the regular-season, but lost to the Lady Panthers.
ORHS avenged its regular-season loss to Powell with a win in the district tournament semifinals, thus punching its ticket to the region tournament.
The Lady Wildcats, however, lost the district tournament championship match to Central, via a penalty kicks shootout after the game concluded in a 1-1 draw after 100 minutes of play.
The Lady Wildcats were eliminated in the region semifinals to eventual Class AAA state champion Bearden, a nationally ranked side that won its third-consecutive state title.
