A trip to North Carolina netted the Clinton High School boys and girls wrestling teams seven medals and two championships last Saturday.

Four Dragons and three Lady Dragons placed in their respective weight classes at the Falcon Frenzy Invitational in West Henderson, North Carolina.

For the boys, Deameion Leavell won the championship in the 165-pound division. Riley Silk (150 pounds) and Justice Snyder (120) each finished third in their respective brackets. Clinton 144-pounder Hayden Harrell finished fourth in his weight class.

In the girls tournament, the Lady Dragons had a champion as Ace Johnson won the title in the 185-pound weight class.

Kayla Crutcher, who wrestles in the 132-point division, finished third.

Maggie Lloyd (114 pounds) finished third.

“The boys and the girls all wrestled really well up there,” Clinton Coach Channing McDonald said.

“I didn’t see all of her matches, but I think Ace pinned her way all the way into the finals, and then, she pinned the girl in the championship match in 35 seconds.”

The Dragons and Lady Dragons wrestled Tuesday at Union County High School in Maynardville.

Results were not available at press time.

Clinton wrestles at Powell Friday night at 6:30.
