Lady Dragons drop one to Seymour
Clinton High School’s girls basketball team suffered its second loss of the 2023-24 season at home late last week.
The Lady Dragons (11-2) came up on the short end of a 50-46 decision against Seymour Thursday night at the Don W. Lockard Gymnasium.
Clinton opened an early 8-2 lead only to see the Lady Eagles storm back and take a 16-11 advantage by the end of the first quarter.
After that, Seymour never trailed again as it led 28-22 at halftime and held a 39-34 edge at the end of the third frame.
Clinton pulled to within three points on a pair of occasions in the final eight minutes as Allie York converted a free throw to make it 41-38 with 3 minutes, 40 minutes.
After the Lady Eagles answered with a basket a short time later, Bailey Burroughs knocked down a shot to make it 43-40.
Lanee Carmichael led the Lady Dragons with 17 points, including 10 in the first half.
Josie Moody added 10 points for Clinton and Addi Gamble finished with nine.
The Lady Dragons will next be in action after Christmas as they will play in a tournament in Tampa, Florida.
