Youth showing gratitude
Thomas Bridges (pictured), a Lake City Elementary School third-grader, and his two brothers and sister spent time printing their names and filling the envelopes with “a card from the heart.”
The gesture was a way to let the veterans know that they are appreciated year-round and not just on Veterans Day, they said.
Misty Williams, director of the United Veterans Council of East Tennessee, said she “just loved” the gesture, and encourages all youth in the area to participate in such activities to recognize veterans.
