Medford fatal shooting investigation continues
No arrest had been made yet as of Tuesday in the shooting death on Monday, Jan. 29, of Eric E. Patterson, 45, of Medford, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Capt. Shain Vowell said the investigation of the incident was still underway.
The Sheriff’s Office reported on Jan. 30 that Patterson had died as a result of a “domestic-related incident” at his home on Cedar Lane, just outside of Rocky Top, in the Medford community.
“At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, the Emergency 911 center received a call reporting the incident, and dispatched Sheriff’s Office patrol officers to the scene,” the report stated. “Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim.
“Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division responded and began their investigation,” the release said.
“The investigators are currently working to gather all relevant information and evidence pertaining to the incident.”
Anderson County property records show Eric Eugene Patterson as the sole owner of the brick single-family residence at 161 Cedar Lane, Rocky Top.
He purchased the one-story, 1,334-square-foot home in November 2020 for $152,000, the records show.
As the residence is not inside the city of Rocky Top, the Sheriff’s Office was called in to investigate.
