All-State honors earned

Six area high school football players were named to the Tennessee Football Coaches Association’s Class 4A and Class 5A All-State teams recently.

Anderson County, which went 8-5 and won the Region 2-4A championship while going undefeated in league play, had Trent Strickland and Xavian James named all-state by the coaches association.

Oak Ridge, which went 9-3 and won the Region 3-5A championship, had three players named to the squad.

Senior running back De’Jauvis Dozier, senior wide receiver Almani Rembert, and senior wide receiver Brandon Heyward received all-state honors from the Volunteer State’s high school football coaches.

Clinton High, which went 6-7 in 2023 and reached the TSSAA Class 5A state quarterfinals for the first time since the early 1990s after upsetting the Wildcats in the second round of postseason action, was represented on the team by senior defensive back D’Mon Marable.
