Anderson County High School had a short stay at the Region 2-AAA girls basketball tournament.

The Lady Mavericks, who won the District 4-AAA Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 20, saw their season come to an end Friday night with a 47-39 loss to Seymour Friday at ACHS.

ACHS (19-11) scored just five points in the third quarter.

The Lady Eagles (13-13), the No. 4 seed from District 3-AAA, got 11 points from Jaden Cummings, who was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

Anderson County, which had a pair of late-season victories over rival Clinton, including a 57-54 win over the top-seeded Lady Dragons in the District 4-AAA Championship Game early last week, won nine of its last 13 games in 2023-24 before Friday’s season-ending loss.

Emily Mustard and Jaylynn Bullock each scored 12 points for the Lady Mavericks in their season finale.

In the district championship game against Clinton at Scott High School in Huntsville early last week, Bullock clinched the district title with a free throw with 1 minute, 10 seconds to play.
