Soccercats stun with comeback victory
After losing its first two matches to open the 2024 season, the Oak Ridge High School boys soccer team won three games in the Cleveland Tournament last week.
The Wildcats claimed the tournament championship with a 2-1 comeback victory over Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences Saturday.
After falling behind 1-0, Samir Calix scored the equalizer and Oak Ridge (3-2) got the game-winner from Ayden Clements, who banked the ball off the post and into the back of the net.
Oak Ridge advanced to the championship match with a 3-0 victory over Ooltewah. Eli Lynch had two markers against the Owls. Juno Morill also scored in the match for the Wildcats.
ORHS opened tournament play Thursday night with a 4-0 win over the host Blue Raiders. In that match, Lynch scored twice and Drayton Keehn and Clements finished with one goal each.
