Hawks beat Yellow Jackets

Clinton Middle School’s baseball team found its way into the win column Monday night as it topped Coal- field 5-3 on the road.

The Hawks notched the victory despite com- ing up with just three hits in the contest.

Easton Gilliam went 1-for-3 and scored a run, while Erick Tirado was 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Pitcher Jarrod Pacinos started and picked up the win on the mound for Clinton, which scored one run in the second inning and added three more in the third, before scoring its



last run in the fourth and final inning.

Pacinos threw 3.2 in- nings. He allowed three runs (two earned), five hits and five walks, and struck out four. He also contributed at the plate as he singled and drove in a run.

Jayden Cuevas took the mound in the fourth and got the final out.

Monday’s victory followed a tough week on the diamond for the Hawks, who dropped a pair of games last week.

The Hawks lost to Oneida 8-6 Friday despite getting two hits from Erick Tirado, who went 2-for-2 with a run scored. Pacinos was 1-for-2 and scored a run, while Heriberto Tirado

was 0-for-2 with a run scored.

Clinton had four hits against the Indians.

On Thursday, the Hawks fell 3-1 to Wart- burg Central despite a solid performance by two of their pitchers.

Eric Newport and Cue- vas combined to throw a one-hitter in the game.

Cuevas pitched 3.2 in- nings. He gave up three runs (one earned), one hit and five walks. He recorded nine strike- outs. Newport threw 1.2 innings, walking two and striking out two.

Erick Tirado went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Colton Wright drove in a run, and Newport was 1-for-3.
