Lorie Wilson has announced that she will seek election to the Clinton City Council in November to replace retiring council member Jim McBride from Ward 3 in South Clinton.

Wilson has served on the Clinton City School Board since 2021.

She said she is an award-winning mortgage lender who has achieved numerous recognitions during her tenure. Presently with Foundation Mortgage, Wilson was recognized as a top-producing loan officer by the Knoxville Mortgage Bankers Association in 2022 and 2023, was recognized as a top producer by Eleven Mortgage in 2023, and received the Rising Star Award from Rocket Mortgage in 2022.

She was the top mortgage producer every year with TN Bank from 2016 through 2022.

A community volunteer for more than a decade, Wilson has served on the Board of Trustees at Girls Inc., led a local chapter of Networking Today, and has volunteered at several area schools through Junior Achievement, also participating in various school career days. She also is a member of the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce.

Co-founding Clinton Strong with Joey Smith in 2019, they have organized several fundraising projects, including raising money to provide an outside dining space at CHS during COVID. They are currently raising money to renovate the front lobby at CHS.

Wilson explained her reasons for seeking to serve on the City Council:

“Clinton is a close-knit community built on our love for our schools and maintaining a quality of life for every generation within the city. I want to serve the citizens of Clinton in making sure that is maintained for generations to come.”

A resident of South Clinton for the past 15 years, Wilson has lived most of her life in Anderson County. She has two children who have attended Clinton schools: Reagan Elizabeth Wilson, a student at Roane State; and Jackson Garrett Wilson, a junior at Clinton High School.

Wilson is the daughter of Bobby and Joyce McCoy of Briceville, and attends Faith Promise Church.

The election for the Clinton City Council will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5.
