’Cats soccer beats Panthers in 3-AAA matchup
The Oak Ridge High School boys soccer team won its District 3-AAA match against Powell Friday night, notching a 3-1 victory over the Panthers at home.
Emmett Lee scored two goals and dished out an assist in the win. Eli Lynch had the other marker for the Wildcats, who have won six of their last seven games after dropping the first two games of the 2024 campaign.
Those were to Chattanooga Baylor and Knoxville’s Hardin Valley Academy, which is in the midst of an 11-game unbeaten streak after prevailing against Bearden Friday in a nine-round penalty kicks shootout (7-6). That came after they played to a 1-1 tie in regulation and overtime.
The Wildcats hosted Knox Central Tuesday, with the Bobcats coming off an overtime win over Knoxville Halls. Results were not available at press time.
ORHS was supposed to play at Webb School of Knoxville early last week, but that match was rained out.
